Jesus and Malayalee Youth

Jesus and Malayalee Youth

One Malayalee youth ended up in a severe accident and was brought to the hospital. He was placed under ventilator and was very close to death. Jesus appeared to him and said, “You are going to die soon”. Youth replied” Lord Jesus, after several years of hunting I finally found a girl friend and we are planning to get married next month, so do not break her heart. Also I am the only son to my parents and do not break their hearts as well”. He begged to Jesus for mercy. Jesus said "I listened your request; I am going to extend your life to sixteen years, eight months, four days, two hours, one minute and one second” and Jesus disappeared. Youth's organs started to respond with the chemicals, he came back to life as a miracle.

Just After a year, youth went to his buddy's wedding and ended up again in another accident on his way back to  home. He was again placed under ventilator and Jesus appeared to him. Jesus said "You are going to die soon'. Youth replied "Lord Jesus, you extended my life and I thought you will keep your words. Jesus replied " You do not know the value of human life. Since I extended your life, you started to consume more alcohol than past and started another new habit of smoking; also you forgot to wear seat belt while driving and attempted to turn right on a red light which caused the accident but I saved your wife from death. I will keep my promise; I am going to extend the life of your son. You probably may not know your wife is pregnant with a boy”. Youth replied "what will happen if my son screw up his life”. Jesus Said "I will extend the life of someone else in your family” and Jesus disappeared. Later Malayalee youth died.

Facebook story

Let me narrate a story which happened back in Kerala, one grandma went for a Christian retreat, during the retreat the priest advised everyone to sign up in facebook so they will receive daily news feeds. Grandma came back home and asked her husband for facebook. Grandpa replied “I do not know what is facebook, I will pay whatever it is”. Grandma called her daughter; she misunderstood the term facebook with something else. The daughter came with her 10 year old son and the son said “I know what facebook is, let us go buy now”. They went to a local computer store; bought a used computer and ordered broadband connection.

Next day, grandma signed up in facebook and whole neighborhood received her friend request. Grandma made 150 friends in a day and has friends in almost all continents. Once Grandma became addicted to facebook, she stopped making morning tea for her husband and skipped daily church masses. The poor husband has to go to local tea shop for tea in the morning and started to go local toddy bar at the evening where he reconnected with all his childhood friends. Grandpa said “I would have better life if someone invented facebook 50 years ago but it is not too late”. Lately I heard grandma started to do exercises with a motivation to update her profile picture.

Marriage is a destiny?

Some people believe that marriage is a destiny and many people in Kerala believe that it happens in heaven. Let me narrate a story of three software engineers they married almost same time.

There were three software engineers they studied together in the same college; once they graduated they decided to work for the same company. So they found a job in a software company  at Cochin, Kerala. One day one of them suggested that we should marry almost same time. Everybody agreed his suggestion and they all started looking for a bride. One of them found a girl through internet at Calicut which is almost five hours drive from his work place; they started long distance relationship and finally agreed to tie the knot. The second person was looking for a healthy or athletic girl which he found through a matchmaker site. The girl was from Kattapana which is also three hours journey from his work place. Finally they ended up in marriage. The third person approached his family to find a suitable girl for him. They recommend a girl from his local town; also she was highly educated. The third guy decided to marry the girl and he realized that she was a vegetarian person soon after the marriage.

The three friends were married almost same time frame, one of them said " since we are friends, we should plan for a group camping, I can find a camp house somewhere in Munnar located at eastern part of Kerala". Everybody agreed his suggestion and all decided each person share the food. The person who married the girl from Kattapana said "I will bring red meat and alcohol for the gathering". The guy married the girl from Calicut said" my wife knows how to cook Biriyani and we will be responsible for Biriyani/fried rice". The guy who married vegetarian girl said "we will cook all the vegetable dishes."

They went for the camping in the following week; everyone cooked their dishes for the dinner. All women except the vegetarian dressed with night gowns for the dinner. The vegetarian dressed with a traditional Indian Sari; her husband said "you did not bring any night gowns”. She replied “you did not buy any dress for me?” The husband admitted that it was his fault. Next day they all spent time for outdoor activities, they were all exhausted at the evening. One of the husbands suggested that we need to go to a local bar and spend time over there. The husband of vegetarian woman said “they won’t serve any vegetarian food and my wife won’t able to order any food”. The vegetarian woman immediately interrupted and said “Don’t worry about me, I will find something to eat”. They all had wonderful time at the bar except the husband of vegetarian woman.

After several weeks, one of the husbands suggested that we should celebrate Onam feast and people will eat only vegetarian dishes on that day. He also suggested to Vegetarian woman’s husband “you guys are perfect for hosting the party”. The husband agreed and they call came dressed in Onam costume to his house for the lunch. The vegetarian woman and her husband hard time to prepare the dishes since both were too slow. The woman from Kattappana said "Since time is running out, we can help you in cooking”. The women from Kattappana and Calicut joined together and cooked another five vegetarian dishes in just an hour. The lunch was ready by noon and everyone enjoyed the food except the vegetarian woman’s husband. He was watching at other two wives way of cooking the dishes, at the same time he started to worry about his marital life, realized that something is falling apart.

Arranged Marriage

Arranged Marriage

PART 1

Arranged marriages existed many parts of the world and is very dominant in India. Now a days it is slowly disappearing but it won’t go away so easily. Meet the girl or Pennu Kaanal is the main process of arranged marriage, some people will enjoy this and some won’t. I am narrating a story which happened  somewhere in northern Kerala.

The story is about a Malayalee business man in the Middle East who decided to marry in his early thirties. He approached a marriage consultant or broker in Kerala and requested to look for a highly educated girl. He is less care about beauty or family financial background but education is critical for him. The broker started his hunting and notified his client that it is quite difficult to find someone; most of the girls are looking for someone below twenty eight years of age. After months of hunting, the broker found a girl who is in early thirties, also teaching in a college somewhere in Trichur district. The girl spent most of her twenties in universities and completed her Doctorate in science.

The business man asked his broker whether he can meet the girl in private without visiting her family. The broker got the response from the girl that she is not willing to meet him private and asked him to contact her father. Finally the business man visited the girl’s family, had to answer all the questions of girl’s father. It appears to be him as corporate job interview. At the end of the process, he met the girl and had a thirty minutes conversation. The girl gave her mobile number to him for communication purpose. The business man was interested in her but was not sure whether he would marry her not. Couple of days later, he sent text message to the girl “ I  need to talk to you private one more time, this time I will accompany with my best friend, I can arrange the meeting in a restaurant”. The girl refused the private meeting and advised him to contact her father. The broker mediated the conversation with the girl’s father; he agreed another meeting in his house. The business man went with his best friend for the second meeting which is quite unusual. Next day the business man met his friend and asked his second opinion. The friend replied “the girl and her family look good to me but I have a concern which I am not sure which is  important to you?”

Second Marriage

PART 1

In the old days, widowers or widows were not encouraged to marry since society was not very supportive. Some people will marry no matter what the society says. I am narrating the story of a friend who went through this path.
My Christian friend who was working at Trivandrum and he met a girl in a bus stop. He liked the girl in his first look; later on they meet each other in the bus stop. After a while he approached her asked her name. Her name was Lissy who is also a Christian. Their relationship started to grow and my approached his girl friend’s family. He already knew their family was very rich and they won’t allow their daughter to marry someone from an average family. Initially they opposed the marriage and finally they agreed for the marriage. The marriage happened at Trivandrum and father in law helped them to buy a villa nearby the city.  Six months after the wedding, Lissy experienced some stomach pain and she was given some pain reliever by the doctor. Her pain became worse; the doctor found out that she is suffering from Cancer. She was given Chemo therapy and cancer disappeared for few months. After few months ‘Cancer returned again. The doctor tried another attempt for a surgery; he saw the cancer was spreading and it was too late. The husband was notified that she may not survive more than six months.  Husband brought his dying wife to his home and took care the last days of her life. She died after three months of suffering, both families provided support.
Almost three months after the funeral, the husband returned all the Gold ornaments back to his wife’s family but they did not take her cloths which he donated to some homeless women. One day evening, the husband a call from his brother, his brother said “You act weird now days, you used to call every week in the past, now a days you are not calling us any more, you need to move on with your life, You please come next weekend over here and spend few days with us”. His brother was only a year difference and is very bonded since their childhood. The husband agreed and he decided to visit hometown. It was during monsoon season and during a heavy raining day he reached his home. The brother was waiting for him and his aged parents as well. He visited several relatives in the next day; they all showed sympathy towards him and advised him not to marry too soon.
Next day was Sunday, the brother told the widower “If you do not mind, we can visit a girl’s house, I already communicated to their family, and they know our family.” He further explained, you are going to meet a woman who was divorced two years ago. She married to a bank manager three years ago and she did not know that her husband was an alcoholic. Her family made a surprise to their daughter’s house and realized her pathetic life. They took her back to their house and filed for divorce. Alcoholic husband came drunk for the court hearing; the judge easily approved their divorce.
